Rhythm of international basketball returns to Vilnius

On Monday, first guests have already arrived to the biggest hotel in Lithuania, Radisson Blu Hotel Lithuania. The main entrance of the hotel this week will be exclusively open only to basketball players, FIBA representatives and tournament organisers from four countries. With the strict requirements put in place, we will be preparing for the EuroBasket qualifiers games this weekend.

„We are extremely privileged and honored to be able to host such a prestigious event. 2020 has been a devastating year for hotels and to be able to have this with us is not only great from a business perspective but it also gives us a chance to showcase why we are the safest and the best hotel to host such an event in Lithuania. Lithuanian Basketball Federation has acknowledged our efforts for all the preparations and precautions that we’ve taken throughout the year, all the safety guidelines that we’ve implemented. This is why we’ve been appointed to be the host hotel for this tournament”, – said „Radisson Blu” hotel’s general manager Daniel Baranowski.

Each team will have their own hotel floor where they will live and their meals will be served. According to the hotel’s general manager, it’s a big challenge, but the staff is prepared for anything.

„I think the biggest challenge is the fact that we still need to maintain the same catering requirements that all establishment have, which is takeaway or delivery despite the fact of being a “bubble” hotel. However, within the Radisson hotel group we operate with “Yes, I can” attitude, so for every problem there is a solution. Additionally, we’ve had experience already this year executing multiple events with over 200 people where we had to meet specific catering and catering requirements. We’ve done the same thing except that we’ve made “pop-up” restaurants on each floor. Players can enjoy their meals in the room while collecting it from the “pop-up” restaurant themselves. This was logistical challenge but, nonetheless, something that together with the team we were able to execute”, – added Daniel Baranowski.

The Belgium national team was the first to arrive into the hotel, while Lithuanian basketball players will be arriving on Tuesday. The Lithuanian national team will have its first training on Tuesday evening. On november 27, Lithuanians will face-off Danish national team. On November 29, the national team will seek revenge against Belgium. Both matches will be broadcast live on TV3 TV.

So far, Lithuanians are in the second place in group C and share it with Czech Republic. Both teams have won one victory and suffered one defeat. Belgium is in the first place, which is yet to lose a game and at the bottom of the group goes Denmark, which has not yet felt the taste of victory.
