The Lithuanian women’s basketball team has finished the European Championship qualifier tournament with a loss. Mantas Šernius’ team lost to the Serbian national team in the last match of Group E 61:96 (18:26, 15:34, 11:22, 17:14).
Serbians started the game very strong and quickly gained a double-digit advantage (7:18). The Lithuanians then responded with three 3-pointers and reduced the deficit to 6 points (16:22).
The opponents started the second quarter with a 15:0 run, and the Lithuanians scored their first points after playing only 6 minutes into the quarter, when Kamilė Nacickaitė (21:43) scored an „and 1”. After the first half of the game, Serbians were up by 27 points (33:60).
The second part of the meeting was just a formality for both teams. Serbian basketball players further increased their lead and won an assured victory.
LITHUANIA: Gabrielė Šulskė 15 points, Kamilė Nacickaitė 13 points, Laura Miškinienė (7 reb.) ir Giedrė Labuckienė (6 reb.) 8 points each, Justė Jocytė 6 points, Daugilė Šarauskaitė 5 points.
SERBIA: J.Brooks and A.Crvendakič 15 points each, Y.Anderson (8 as.) and J.Nogič 13 points each.
