The insane Women’s Cup final saw the triumph of Vilnius „Kibirkštis-MRU”. In a dramatic battle, Justina Miknaitė has gave her team a lead with a big three-pointer in the final seconds and sealed the win by defeating Kaunas „Aistes-LSMU” in the Jeep arena with the result 60:55 (18:12, 10:17, 15:14, 17:12).
Team from Kaunas has won this tournament for the last two consecutive years.
Before the start of the penultimate minute of the game, Urtė Slavickaitė tied the game and the scoreboard showed 55:55. The teams then exchanged unsuccessful attacks, J. Miknaitė scored a three pointer and the Vilnius team gained the advantage – 58:55.
The next two LSMU offences ended with two shots by K. Kazočiūnaitė that did not reach the target. After two unsuccessful offences, Kaunas LSMU team fouled Jacqueline Luna-Castro, who then made both shots for the charity stripe and sealed the win for the Vilnius-MRU team with the final score on the scoreboard – 60:55.
The Finals MVP was Ieva Savickaitė, who scored 10 points (3/3 2pt, 4/6 FT) in 16 minutes, 3 rebounds, 1 block and had a total of 15 efficiency rank.
The Vilnius’ team last triumphed in the Lithuanian Women’s Cup in 2014.
