Tomas Dimša fuels Lithuania in a blowout victory over the Dominican Republic

Lithuanian national team played its last preparation game before the Olympic Qualifying Tournamnet that will start in Kaunas next week.

Lithuanian national team defeated the Dominican Republic for the second time with the final score of 95:69 (25:22, 20:13, 28:17, 22:17).

Coaches made a decision to sit out Marius Grigonis and Domanatas Sabonis for this game.

Lithuanians already played the Dominican Republic national team almost a week ago. In the first game, Lithuanians also came on top and won the game – 95:62. In the second preparation game, the Lithuanian national team defeated Russian national team – 78:61.

Lithuanian national team will play its next game on June 29th against Venezuale. That game will mark the beginning of the Olympic qualifying tournament.

At the beginning of the game, Lithuanians with Jonas Valančiūnas in the lead gave its opponents a slight advantage – 12:14. At the end of the first quarter, Lithuanians were back in the lead – 25:22.

In the first minutes of the second quarter, home team increased the lead to 37:29. While in the lead with a similar difference (45:35), Lithuanians finished the first half of the game.

In the third quarter, Lithuanians had a 9:0 run and increased the lead even more – 54:35. After successful few minutes in the second half Lithuanians were able to maintain the control of the game in their hands – 73:52. Finally, last ten minutes were just a formality. Home team sealed the win with the final numbers on the scoreboard – 95:69.

Lithuania: Tomas Dimša and Lukas Lekavičius 13, J. Valančiūnas 12, Rokas Jokubaitis 11, Gytis Masiulis 10, Mantas Kalnietis and Rokas Giedraitis 9, Eimantas Bendžius and Tadas Sedekerskis scored 6 points each.

Dominican Republic: Jonathan Araujo 15, Angel Nunez 10, Gelvis Solano 9, Victor Liz 8, Andres Feliz and Michael Torres 7.
