Prior to the men’s national team camp, the young talents gathered in another „bubble”. The third camp of the LKF project „Generational Talent” (Lithuanian version for a Jr NBA development camp) took place in Druskininkai over the weekend, with the participation of the most promising young Lithuanian basketball players. Athletes and coaches lived and practised in the ‘bubble’ conditions, and had to test negative for COVID-19 before the camp.
The practise in this camp were held in English for the first time, because David Gale, the head of Kėdainiai „Nevėžis”, was in charge of the camp.
„I would like to thank the Lithuanian Basketball Federation for giving me the opportunity to be here, to be able to work with these children and see how the program is built in Lithuania, I enjoy being in this country. I am very grateful for this opportunity.
I think there are a lot of talented kids in this camp, some of them are particularly talented, some are talented in ball handling, others are talented individually, reading a game, playing together. Several children played with incredible energy. One thing all children can improve is to slow the tempo. But the whole slowdown comes with time, sometimes even professional players have to slow down the pace of their game. So I think that’s something that all kids can work on. You should slow down a bit and then the game will be easier.
Today we worked a lot on defence, learned specific techniques, as well as worked on the things we started yesterday – moving with the ball, without the ball – we taught children to read the game”, – added David Gale
