Fans to be allowed in the arena during the Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Kaunas

On 26th of May, it became clear that the most loyal fans will be able to support the Lithuanian national team in the arena during the Olympic qualifying basketball tournament in Kaunas at the end of June. The decision taken by the government will allow 75% of the seats in the arena to be filled, and fans will only be able to enter the arena with an ‘opportunity passport’, approved by the government of Lithuania.

Due to the changed circumstances of the event, the Lithuanian Basketball Federation (LKF) together with the ticket distributor Bilietai.lt canceled the validity of the previously purchased tickets and will refund the fans and start a new sales process.

„Due to the different event date, the life-threatening pandemic and new circumstances, we are forced to cancel the validity of previously purchased tickets. There are no technical possibilities to meet the needs of consumers according to the old order. The current regulation makes it possible to have an ‘opportunity passport’, as well as to introduce distances between seats, which would mean that some fans would not be able to sit in their according place, which would naturally lead to dissatisfaction.

A decision was made to cancel the validity of the tickets, refund the fans and start a new ticket sale. Ticket holders will have to have a valid ‘opportunity passport’, approved by the government of Lithuania, during the event, and upon arrival at the arena, they must also present an ID document”, – said LKF director, Justas Kalinauskas.

So far, the tickets for the games purchased by the fans are no longer valid, they will be able to receive a refund until the 10th of June.

Fans who bought tickets at the box office should contact the distributor by email: info@bilietai.lt and send the completed refund form. You can find the application here: https://www.bilietai.lt/file/id/43766

For those who purchase tickets online, the money will be refunded to the same account from which the payment was made.

Ticket sales for the new event will start on May 28th. Previous ticket holders and LKF membership holders will have a priority to purchase them starting that day. Public ticket sales on the bilietai.lt platform will start on the 2nd of June. Fans will only be able to enter the arena with a valid ‘opportunity passport’, approved by the Government of Lithuania, and proof of identity.

After the government meeting, it also became clear that the fans will be able to watch the friendly games of the Lithuanian men’s basketball team with the teams of the Dominican Republic (June 18th and 24th) and Russia (June 22nd). The Lithuanian Basketball Federation (LKF) will inform about the sale of tickets to these meetings in the near future.

Lithuanians will start the Olympic qualifying basketball tournament with a game against the Venezuelan team on June 29th, and a game against the South Korean national team will take place on July 1st. Other group (B) consists of Slovenia, Poland and Angola. The top two teams in the group will advance to the semifinals.

The Tokyo Olympic games will take place on July 23rd – August 8th of 2021.
