Hoptrans arena has seen its first 3×3 event in Klaipeda

Together with the SAVY.LT Lithuanian 3 × 3 basketball championship final stages in Klaipeda, new Hoptrans outdoor arena has opened its doors for its first event.

12 best championship teams will face off on Sunday to decide who is the best team and will compete for the 15,000 euros prize fund and a ticket to the „Masters” World Tour.

Arena has a 1,500 fan capacity and is 1,600 square meter building. It is considered to be one of the largest in Europe among its counterparts of this type. Mantas Mikalonis, an engineer from the company „Scenos techninis servisas”, who took care of its construction, told about the work that needed to be done during the implementation of this exceptional project.

“While designing it, the most difficult thing was to fight with awnings, the conical roof construction was easily solved. There were many different versions of the possible stands layout, what also took some time. We tried to fulfil the wishes of the organisers and found a common language.

It took us about a week. Thank God, the weather was good, because if it weren’t for the good weather, it would have lasted for two or three more days”, – said one of the designers of the arena.

Vytautas Šulskis, one of the best 3×3 Lithuanian basketball representatives, has already tried to test the newly build arena.

„The arena really looks top-notch, the court itself, the rims – it can really be compared to the arenas of all the Masters we were in. In my opinion, this is an even higher level arena. I think that the event itself should be impressive both on Saturday and Sunday”, – player shared his impressions.

Rolandas Skaisgirys, one of the founders of the 3 × 3 basketball association, was also impressed when he entered the Hoptrans arena.

“From the inside, it is absolutely fantastic, it is even better than the one in Saudi Arabia, where they have go the newest one. Due to wind disruptions not all advertisements have been put up yet and the arena is not fully decorated on the exterior. When it is done – it will look amazing. Throughout the summer, it can be a multifunctional arena that will host various events”, – said Rolandas Skaisgirys.

Hoptrans Arena will also host the Hoptrans 3 × 3 tournament games on July 5th – 6th, 9th – 10th and July 31st -August 1st.

Along with mentioned above, the Hoptrans 3 × 3 U23 Nations League competition will take place on July 15th – 17th in the same arena.

Tickets to the final round of SAVY.LT Lithuanian 3 × 3 basketball championship and the Hoptrans 3 × 3 tournament are distributed by „Tiketa“.
