Vytis-Gulbelė have won their 2nd consecutive 3×3 Lithuanian championship stage

The second stage of the SAVY.LT Lithuanian 3 × 3 basketball championship has finished in Garliava on Sunday, where Šakiai „Vytis-Gulbelė” won the title for the second weekend in a row. Marijus Užupis has joined the team for the first time in the tournament after finishing the recovery process from the injury.

In the final, Šakiai the players of Vytautas Magnus University, with the result – 18:17.

All game of the championship are broadcasted live on the weekends on GO3.

At this stage, Vytis-Gulbelė team competed by wearing different jerseys than everyone – white jerseys made by RIND. In this way, they were singled out as the winners of the previous stage, and the victory on Sunday guaranteed such a privilege for the next weekend as well.

This was the second of six qualifying stages in the SAVY.LT Lithuanian 3 × 3 basketball championship. For the victory in the stage, Vytis team were awarded 100 points (a total of 200 points), and the VMU quartet won 80 points (a total of 98 points). These points will determine the teams’ positions before the final qualifying round.

On Sunday, the Šakiai team were in the Group A competition, defeating Telšiai and Žemaitijos Termoputa team, which earned a game in the PRO group on Saturday by being among the three strongest ELITE teams.

In group B, the VMU team, which defeated both the Antwerp (Belgium) team and the Lithuanian U21 team, did not have competition this time. The guests from Belgium came out victorious in the game against the youth team.

Group C was won without much difficulty by Klaipėda „Neptūnas” basketball players, who defeated Kėdainiai „Nevėžis-Optibet” and Trakai „GEALAN”. Meanwhile, the representatives of LKL club appeared stronger in the duel between Kedainiai and Trakai.

The winners of group D was the team of Kaunas district Tauras (Kauno rajono „Tauras”), who defeated the AUCH team and U23-VMU team. In the quarterfinals, team based around the U23 national team players have won.

The playoffs began with a repeat of the final of the first stage. There, Šakiai proved their skill again. „Tauras” eliminated Antwerp team, which will be competing in the Olympic qualifiers, VMU eliminated the U23-VMU team after a fierce combat, and „Žemaitijos termoputos” became the first „ELITE” representatives among the four strongest members of the group after defeating Klaipeda.

The first participants of the final were Šakiai team, who broke the resistance of „Tauras” in the difficult semi-final – 21:19, and were joined by Vytautas Magnus University, who also defeated „Žemaitijos Termoputa” with the final score of 21 to 19.

At the end of the second stage, the points were awarded again. „Tauras” received 70 points (130 points in total), „Žemaitijos Termoputa” – 60, „Neptūnas” – 50 (120), U23-VMU – 45 (61), „Nevėžis-Optibet” – 40 (120), Antwerp team – 35 (85), Telšiai – 20 (60), AUCH – 18, U21 – 16 (61), GEALAN – 14 (49).

Aurelijus Pukelis won the shootout competition, scoring 13 points in the contest.
